Resolution: the mistake that ruins large format
Artwork that looks sharp on a laptop can fail badly at print size. Large format is viewed from a distance so 300 DPI at full size is unnecessary — but the file must still scale cleanly. As a working rule, 100–150 DPI at final size is comfortable for a standee viewed from a metre or two, and 72 DPI is adequate for a hoarding viewed from across a road. Vector artwork is always preferable because it scales without any loss. We calculate effective DPI at final size before printing and, where a supplied logo is too low-resolution, our studio rebuilds it as vectors at no extra cost.
Designing for viewing distance
The most common design fault in standees is too much text. A person walks past a standee in about three seconds; anything beyond a headline, three short bullets and a contact detail will not be read. Keep the headline in the top third at eye level, because the bottom 12 inches of a roll-up standee are frequently obscured by furniture or people. High contrast matters more than colour sophistication — pale grey on white disappears entirely under venue lighting.

Roll-up standees can be produced within 24 hours when artwork is print-ready. Large fabric backdrops take 48 to 72 hours because of finishing and frame assembly.
