Engraving versus printing

Laser engraving physically removes the coating to reveal the metal beneath, so the mark is part of the pen and cannot fade, scratch off or wash away. It reproduces single-colour marks only. Pad printing lays ink onto the surface and handles multi-colour artwork and gradients, but it is a surface treatment and will show wear with heavy daily handling over a year or more. For most corporate orders we recommend engraving on metal and pad printing on plastic, and will tell you honestly which suits your artwork.

Packing and combinations

What is the minimum order for printed pens?

100 pens. The per-unit rate falls appreciably above 500 and again above 2,000, so we will quote your quantity and the next slab so you can compare.

Is laser engraving better than printing on pens?

On metal, yes. Engraving removes the coating to reveal the metal beneath, so the mark is permanent and cannot rub off. Pad printing is the right choice on plastic and where the logo needs multiple colours.

Can you print full-colour logos on pens?

Yes, by pad printing or UV printing on plastic and coated barrels. Laser engraving reproduces single-colour marks only, so we will advise which method suits your artwork.

Do you supply pens in gift boxes?
